CWC Job Guide Training 12.10.10

Learn about a new, web‐based tool, The Job Guide, developed by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University. This new tool uses labor market data and business information to assist job developers and job seekers to hone a job search. The Job Guide uses a marketing approach to labor market segmentation that is akin to strategic marketing and sales methods used by private organizations. For jobseekers and job developers who start with a target occupation, The Job Guide relates it to specific industries where the target occupation is most likely to be in demand and provides the names, addresses, contact information, and other information of the firms that comprise those industries in a target geographic area. For jobseekers and job developers who start with a target industry, The Job Guide provides the names, addresses, contact information, and other information of the firms that comprise those industries in a target geographic area. This workshop will introduce participants to The Job Guide approach and taxonomy and teach participants how to navigate the Job Guide online. The workshop will also provide tips and strategies on how best to incorporate this new too into your job development repertoire.
